At age 21, Teesha Mercedes has found herself spinning the best music in a variety of genres within Toronto’s downtown nightlife scene. As a full time student, attending the University of Toronto, and managing a part time job, Teesha Mercedes has always made time for the decks. She discovered her passion for the turntables at the age of 14 when she closely scrutinized and listened to older brothers “DJ on the DL” and “DJ Jungle Junkee” mixing on the turntables. As both brothers played out at different venues, Teesha found an opportunity to sneak into her brothers’ rooms and taught herself to mix music. In addition, she often found herself digging into crates of records and different CD cases, listening to any type of music genre she could get her hands on. Obviously, Teesha was unable to frequent the nightlife scene at that tender age of 14 and this made it difficult for her to listen to different Djs. Consequently, Teesha ceased this opportunity to tune into different radio stations that featured live DJ’s, and from there she was able to hone in on her own talent and became proficient in spinning. She is very musically inclined and takes pleasure in spinning the best in every variety from classic rock to old school dance, hip hop, reggae, house to current top 40 airplay. With plenty of practice, she became more comfortable and confident to begin playing at private parties, venues, weddings and now the top major clubs. Teesha Mercedes has also done promotional work for clubs such as Circa and The Guverment. She has promoted and worked events for Young Joc, J Holiday, Trey Songz, Girlicious, John Legend, Collie Budz, Sean Paul, and many more! RockUnsteady ultimately became worldwide when older brother Dj Jungle Junkee formed RockUnsteady in 2006 and recruited Dj Teesha Mercedes, Dj Spillz and Dj Dub T.
